What is not included in your piercing warranty?

Whilst standard defects that result from manufacturing errors are covered to protect the customer, most issues that arise as a result of use are in fact not covered. Here are some common exclusions:

  • Wear and tear. It is natural that any piercing jewellery may wear out or get run down over time, due to exposure to the elements, movement, and cleaning. This wear and tear is not typically covered by a warranty, as it is a result of customer behaviour and not attributable to an issue from the piercer or jewellery.

  • Accidents. If you accidentally knock out your piercing, or it gets ripped out during a sports activity, for example, your piercing will not be covered by a piercing warranty. These events are circumstances that result from the customer's lifestyle rather than an inherent fault in the piercing.

  • Infections. If you develop an infection as a result of your piercing, this is not covered by the warranty. Infections can be caused by a number of factors, including poor hygiene, incorrect jewellery, or underlying health conditions. It is important to seek medical attention if you develop an infection.

  • Changes . If your piercing migrates or rejects due to changes such as sleeping on your piercing or not getting a downsize at the correct time as directed by your piercer, this is not covered by the warranty. Migration and rejection are common complications of body piercing, and can be caused by a number of factors, including the type of jewellery used, sleeping on or knocking and bumping as well as touching and overcleaning, and the individual's anatomy.

  • Damage caused to jewellery. If the jewellery is bent or the threading or pin is damaged, this is not covered by the warranty. It is important to take care of your jewellery and to regularly inspect it for signs of damage.

It is important to read the terms and conditions of your body piercing warranty carefully to understand what is and is not covered. You should also discuss any concerns you have with your piercer before getting pierced.
